A recent competition brought families together to fish for a cause. The owners of County Line Bait and Tackle held a fishing tournament to raise money for the Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Each participating boat had to have someone 17 years old or younger on it. The tournament encouraged families to spend time together. The winners who caught the biggest fish are 17-year-old Jesse Stroup and eight-year-old Spencer Gray. They each won a grand prize camping trip to Tennessee. Jesse caught a 15-ounce brim fish and Spencer caught a 13-ounce brim fish. Spencer said he was thrilled to win. "I jumped up and down. I was excited and I couldn't believe I won. I entered for the fun of it but then once we caught the brim I said, 'what the heck, let's just win.'" Sponsors raised $1,400 for the Lower Cape Fear Hospice. County Line Bait and Tackle owner James Smith said that he hopes more businesses in the area hold events like this to raise money for charity and bring families together.
