NC politicos running out of time to get on ballot

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The ballots are nearly set for candidates seeking elected office in North Carolina.

The three-week filing period for candidates seeking jobs from U.S. Senate down to the General Assembly and county commissioner ends at noon Friday at elections offices statewide.

Republican incumbent Richard Burr and nine other people had filed paperwork through Thursday to get on the ballot to run for Burr's Senate seat. Three of the nine are Republicans, so Burr will have a May primary election. The general election is Nov. 2.

Nearly 70 people have signed up to run for the 13 seats in the U.S. House delegation. There are also 170 seats in the General Assembly and dozens of judgeships up for grabs.
