FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- The Marines are bringing their big guns to Fort Bragg.
Base officials said starting Monday Marines from Camp Lejeune will be shooting up two dozen 155 mm howitzers at Fort Bragg. Residents near the massive Army base in central North Carolina should expect loud explosions and echoes upon detonation. Officials apologized for the noise, but stressed the need to train around the clock. The Marines will be firing their guns at night and in bad weather.
The training exercise is part of the Marines' annual spring artillery training.
