CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The general commanding the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is bringing his speaking tour to North Carolina as he explains how diplomatic and military efforts are reducing the terrorism threat.
Gen. David Petraeus (peh-TRAY'-us) speaks to the World Affairs Council of Charlotte on Tuesday. He's expected to talk about the Obama administration's military strategies, and the role for development and foreign policy efforts to supplement U.S. military power.
Petraeus earned a Ph.D. in international relations from Princeton University. He spoke there last month and at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee on Monday.
He took over as head of U.S. Central Command in 2008 after executing the surge of U.S. troops into Iraq in 2007.
