FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- A jury could soon begin deliberations in the trial of a North Carolina man accused in a road rampage case in which one person was killed and four others were injured.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that the judge in the trial of 31-year-old Abdullah El-Amin Shareef plans to give jurors
instructions on Friday morning before they begin their deliberations.
The prosecution and defense concluded their closing arguments on Thursday.
Shareef is accused of first-degree murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder and other charges related to a
40-mile rampage between Fayetteville and Wake County.
The Raeford man has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the murder charges. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
An attempted first-degree murder charge against Shareef is pending in Harnett County.
