CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The publisher of The Fayetteville Observer has been elected president of the North Carolina Press Association.
Charles Broadwell will take over Aug. 1 from David Woronoff, publisher of The Pilot in Southern Pines. Woronoff will remain on the board of directors and executive committee.
Tryon Daily Bulletin publisher Jeffrey A. Byrd was voted in as vice president Thursday at the press association's Winter Institute and Annual Meeting.
Other people elected to the board Thursday were: Les High, editor of The News Reporter of Whiteville; Jon Jimison, editor of The Wilson Times; Diane Winnemuller, publisher of The Courier-Tribune of Asheboro; and Robyn Tomlin, executive editor of the StarNews of Wilmington.
