Tea parties prepare for Obama visit to NC

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Tea party groups upset with President Obama's policies are gathering to protest his visit to a North Carolina factory that makes rechargeable batteries.

About 50 people gathered in Charlotte an hour before the president was to arrive, carrying signs and waving American flags.

High Point businessman Larry Davidson says the health care reform package will ruin what he called "the best health care system in the world."

Charlotte Dr. James McGukin says Obama will "destroy the country."

Obama will tour the Celgard plant in Charlotte to tout green energy jobs. The company makes rechargeable lithium batteries used in notebook computers, digital cameras and other devices. The company received a $49 million grant earlier this year to help develop batteries for electric vehicles.
