First to address the safety issues. Perhaps you are blind, but we have Ospreys flying over Wilmington weekly doing touch and goes at ILM. Flying over schools, downtown, busy highways. Do you feel this is unsafe? Absolutely not, there is more risk getting on Market Street any day of the week than going to the Azalea Festival Parade and having a flyover.
Second issue. Having these jets perform a flyover in reality will cost very little. More likely than not they will be on a training flight anyway and probably will fly between Cherry Point and Charleston for routine business anyway with a minimal detour to Wilmington. These military jets fly along the coastal Carolinas daily, a slight detour to honor military families and make the festival better is hardly an unnecessary waste of money. Stop being a Grinch and show a little patriotism and respect for the military!
