Azalea Cultural Festival a Big Hit

New and exciting music spilled out of the Multi-Cultural Stage on Front Street this weekend, reeling in people from the street fair.

The cultural showcase has been a part of the festival over the past six years and has become a real hit.

Different groups from around the community showcase traditional dress, music, and costumes over two days of performances. The goal is to show people how diverse Wilmington really is.

“Sometimes we don't have a sense of it,” says event chair Yvonne Pagan. “It isn't until you attend an event of this nature that you get a true sense of the diversity and you embrace the diversity as well.”

Some of this year's acts included Hawaiian dancers, a Japanese drumming group, Irish dancers, Greek dancers, and many more groups from the Cape Fear region.
