Early voting for NC primary races set to begin

READ MORE:

RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolinians can now cast their ballots for the May 4 primary even if they haven't registered to vote.

The early-voting period begins on Thursday at elections offices and other locations in all 100 counties. People who aren't listed in the voting rolls can fill out a registration form and vote at the same time during the period that ends the afternoon of May 1.

Same-day registration isn't permitted on May 4.

The ballot features Democratic and Republican primary elections for U.S. Senate and House, the Legislature, the courts and county positions.

A runoff primary would be held June 22 in races where no candidate receives more than 40 percent of the vote. The general election is Nov. 2.
