WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- UNC Wilmington men's basketball coach Buzz Peterson stopped by the WWAY NewsChannel 3 studio on Wednesday. WWAY's John Rendleman talked with the new Seahawk.
They discussed a variety of topics, including the role for Brooks Lee at UNCW. Lee served as the interim head coach after the dismissal of Benny Moss.
"During the next couple of days we'll finalize his role," Peterson said. "There are some things that we have to work through that I can't talk about right now what position. I know that Brooks has told me that he's put a lot of time in here, and I want to see this thing work. People are excited, and I've worked too hard not to see that."
Lee will either serve on staff as an assistant coach or as UNCW's Director of Basketball Operations, but assistant coach is certainly Lee's preference. In regard to recruiting Peterson told WWAY that Tanner Milson still intends to come to UNCW. Milson committed to UNCW several months ago when Benny Moss was head coach.
We'll hear more from Coach Peterson tonight on WWAY during the 11pm newscast. During the 11pm sports semgment Buzz Peterson will discuss the role he had in discontinuing NBA training camp in Wilmington for the NBA Charlotte Bobcats. Peterson says he will certainly try to get the Bobcats back at Trask Coliseum though. John will also air additional parts of the interview on the Coach's Corner Sunday at 11:30 a.m. on WWAY.
