NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY)-- Thom Goolsby and Michael Lee spoke to voters at the Northside Baptist Church. The two Republicans are running for the state's 9th district seat currently held by Democrat Julia Boseman.
Controversy over a cartoon and questions over fake ballots used as campaign materials have drawn some extra attention to the race. Undecided voters say they'll use the debate to help make their decision.
"This is my first debate and I'm here to find out what each candidate has to offer and then I'll make my decision from what they present tonight on which way I will vote in the primary," said David Martin.
Tuesday's winner will take on Democrat Jim Leutze in the November election.
