RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina state senator who decided not to run for re-election has failed to advance in a primary for a District Court judgeship in New Hanover and Pender counties. Unofficial election results Tuesday show Julia Boseman finishing third among four candidates. The top two vote-getters - Chad Hogston and Robin Wicks Robinson - will face each other in November. Boseman announced last fall she would leave the Senate after three terms. She was the first openly gay person elected to the General Assembly. Boseman will serve the rest of her Senate term. Her defeat comes as five House incumbents lost primaries Tuesday. Another House member - Wil Neumann of Gaston County - lost a Republican primary to try to join the Senate.
