Auction of NC raceway property rescheduled

READ MORE:

SALISBURY, N.C. -- The court-ordered foreclosure sale of property that was going to be developed as a racetrack with high-end condominiums in North Carolina has been postponed.

The Salisbury Post reported the sale of the more than 200 acres in Spencer that was scheduled Thursday has been rescheduled for June 9 at the Rowan County Courthouse in Salisbury. No reason was given for the delay.

The property on U.S. 29 along the banks of the Yadkin River is being sold to satisfy a mortgage of more than $1.5 million and other costs.

The town of Spencer annexed the former textile mill property in 2006 and hoped for a boon from the development of a track with a club and condos.
