I re-read the article to be certain. There was no mention of his family.
But since you're such a good friend, let me ask:
1. Are you visiting him while he is in custody?
2. Will your visits continue after he enters a state facility of the state's choosing?
3. Should he not have insurance, or should it be insufficient to cover damages and the loss of life, will you be opening your check book to make contributions?
Just would be nice to know how far friendship goes after someone does something stupid.
