Swimming advisories issued at Oak Island

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) -- The state has now issued four swimming advisories and one alert because of bacteria levels at Oak Island. Swimming advisories and alerts are recommendations that people have no full body contact with the water in a specific area for public health reasons.

The state issued two new advisories today at the public beach access at SE 58th Street and E. Beach Drive and at Fort Caswell-Lighthouse Park on Caswell Beach Road. Two additional areas remain under advisories that were issued a week ago: the public access at SE 46th Street and E. Beach Drive and the Caswell Beach public access.

The area under a swimming alert is the public beach access near the Ocean Pier at Ocean Drive and Keziah Street in Oak Island.
