NC group unveils plan against domestic violence

DURHAM, N.C. -- The North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence is unveiling a 10-year plan to promote healthy relationships.

The plan will be unveiled Thursday during the coalition's biennial conference in Durham.

North Carolina is one of 14 states that received money from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to come up with a plan to prevent domestic violence. Parts of the plan, called the State Plan, are already being used in Chatham and New Hanover counties.

Those parts include a program to teach faith leaders how to prevent domestic violence; a Men for Peace campaign that involves prominent local men talking about healthy relationships; and
teaching high school students about safe dates.
