N.C.'s Triangle communities rank among national leaders in growth

READ MORE:

RALEIGH (AP) -- The Triangle region of North Carolina is home to some of the nation's fastest-growing communities.

That's according to the latest US Census Bureau estimates, which show that Cary is ranked eight nationally in percentage of population growth for communities with at least 100,000 residents. The Raleigh suburb grew more than five percent from July 2005 to July 2006.

Meanwhile, Raleigh's population increased nearly four percent and ranks 15th on the list of the 258 fastest growing communities. The capital city's population was about 356,000 in July 2006.

Raleigh's most recent increase continues the city's rapid population growth this decade.
