I have children that attend New Hanover County schools that have implemented uniform policies. I must admit that when my children attended middle school and could only wear 3 different color polo's it was a hardship. In the beginning of the year the cheaper non POLO brand shirts, were easy to find and relatively cheap. Towards Decembers when the shirts start getting worn, it was impossible to find any of the colors except for Black. It was a bad experience and I disliked the uniforms by mid year.
This year the local high school implemented a uniform policy.
Thier policy is simple.
Wear collared shirt, any color with no graphics.
You pants or jeans must not be too baggy, too tight, or have holes, tears or graphics of them
It has been wonderful this year. It's easy to find clothing all the time, I didnt have too buy two different wardrobes, and the clothes they wear to school are fine to wear anywhere else.
I have been very happy with the relaxed uniform policy.
