I agree with you. In fact, I am a proponent of uniforms (or maybe better said a much stricter dress code). However, I feel that jeans can be appropriate attire for school if they meet certain criteria. And why did the board single out skinny jeans? I would rather see tight jeans that the color of a kid's underwear. And there are is such a thing as "skinny" khakis, just like skinny jeans but not denim. It makes no sense. My contention is not so much what was passed (although I am irritated about it), but HOW it was passed. This is not what was presented to parents and this was not what LMS presented to the board. I went to bcswan.net and looked up what was presented to the board. What the board passed and what was presented are two different things. If the board wants to leave the decision up to each school whether or not to have uniforms then I believe they should honor what the school administration/parents think is best. If the board is going to force their decisions regardless of parent and administrative feedback then I say that ALL schools in Brunswick County need to have uniforms.
Agree...mostly
