Red Cross hosts first ever CPR Saturday


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- After Saturday, it might be safe to say that Wilmington as a whole is just a little bit safer. The American Red Cross hosted its first ever CPR Saturday, an event that certified more than two hundred participants in CPR and minor first aid.

The event offered three four-hour courses where trainees received classroom training as well as first hand practice on mannequins. Organizers say it’s important for everyone to be trained.

“This is an excellent life skill,” says Red Cross Emergency Services director Victoria Kling. “The reality is wherever you work, at home, where you vacation, even when you go to a restaurant to dine, something could happen to someone in the vicinity of where you are or even a family member. Its really important, because it can happen to you at home.”
