WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Some late heroics in the World Cup have American fans celebrating, including right here in the Port City. Fans in Wilmington were out in full force for today's match. Carolina Ale House on S. College Road was packed and going crazy right after Team USA's Landon Donovan scored the winning goal in stoppage time to beat Algeria 1-0 and advance to the round of 16.
As you can imagine, the late-match theatrics had fans going crazy.
"It was a great game," fan Gray Connally said. "Donovan pulled it out in the last couple of minutes. It was awesome. USA advances. We're ready for the next round."
