WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- For more than 30 years Riverfest has brought thousands of people to Downtown Wilmington. Hundreds of vendors and concession stands will pack Water Street for the weekend event again this year. Even though Riverfest is not until the first weekend in October, organizers are spreading the word right now mainly because they need your help making the event a success. "People move away, retire and they're no longer involved," festival chair Donna Worrell said. "We have found that right now we're in the need of some fresh volunteers and lots of people to help with Riverfest." Riverfest needs between 150 to 200 volunteers. The organization, which benefits the marine technology program at Cape Fear Community College, also needs chairpersons for all the different events that take place during the weekend.
