Another delay in 2002 murder case

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The family of a woman killed eight years ago is still waiting for justice. David Eugene Bryant has been sitting in jail after allegedly shooting his wife Gladys in 2002.

Today a hearing was held to see if Bryant would stand trial. The defense now has 60 days to complete an evaluation that would help the court decide if bryant is eligible for a competency hearing.

The victim's family was disappointed with todays decision, saying the process has taken too long.

"What next? How much longer?," Helen Davis, Gladys Bryant's sister asked. "Another two years? Another five years? I mean we have been through it. My mom died. That was a big bang. My sister died eight years ago. It's just hard for us. We're looking for closure."

No hearing date has been set for this on-going case.
