So, does this mean that Wilmington may one day be the home to one of the larger, better known cruise ships? I seem to remember that many years ago, it was tossed around that Wilmington could play host to a cruise ship or two, but the problem was clearance under the existing power lines. I believe that when the idea was looked at, there were two options. One was to raise the current power lines and the other was to go deep under the Cape Fear River. Maybe WWAY TV3 can investigate this and get some answers. A cruise port here could do a lot for the local economy.
