WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- For the first time in nearly two years, a Wilmington restaurant finds itself back on the low performers list in this week's Kitchen Cops report. Health inspectors also found three high performers among their most recent checks of area restaurants.
K-38 Baja Grill on Oleander Drive lost three points because plates, pans, containers and the ice machine were dirty. More points off because mushrooms were stored UNCovered and a pie pan was used as a scoop and stored in the sugar container. Pork, black beans, grilled onions and grilled peppers were at the wrong temperature. Pork cooling in the walk-in was in the wrong kind of container. And there were flies in the restaurant. Eleven violations in all and a score of 87 for K-38.
This week's top score belongs to Sub-17 in Calabash. A perfect 100 plus two points for workers passing a food safety course.
To Wilmington, where Temptations Everyday Gourmet in Hanover Center lost a half point cause floors and baseboards need detailing and some wood surfaces need a little repainting. And back the two-point bonus for a score of 101.5.
And a perfect 100 for 128 South Events & Catering in Downtown Wilmington.
