WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The Azalea Festival is the biggest of events here in the Port City, and each year an artist is chosen to represent the festival.
The artist for next year's Azalea Festival is Jenny McKinnon Wright. She says she is very honored. McKinnon Wright says this has always been a dream of hers. Her artwork will be seen on prints and t-shirts for the festival.
Mckinnon Wright and festival president Hank Estep stopped by Good Morning Carolina today. Mckinnon Wright talked about her inspiration for her painting.
"I wanted something that was instantly recognizable as Wilmington; that was number one. Something that has ties to the festival; that's number two," she said.
Azalea Festival organizers will unveil the official festival artwork Friday night at Airlie Gardens. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. For ticket information visit http://www.ncazaleafestival.org/events/artunveiling/tabid/101/default.as...
