Brunswick County students go to CSI camp

READ MORE: Brunswick County students go to CSI camp
BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- Move over CSI, there's a new group of investigators in town. For teens like Veronica Moreno, this three-day crime scene investigation camp at West Brunswick High School is a high point of the summer. CSI camper Veronica Moreno said, "I've been watching a lot of TV, like Law and Order. So I've been really into it." Misty Potter says she's excited to apply her love of science to something fun and hands-on. Misty said, "We learned that by using crazy glue you can actually crystallize the finger prints on foil on paper." The group spent the morning learning how to collect evidence like finger prints. Camper Morgan Myers said, "It's hard finding prints on it and they were places in didn't think they would be." They dusted for prints on everything they could find, including our news car. Brunswick County Parks and Recreation teamed up with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office to sponsor the camp. Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Lt. Sam Davis said, "Our hope for the kids is that they learn how to respect what we do, learn how to maybe get into law enforcement." "Investigators" like Veronica Moreno say this camp is a lot different than what she sees on TV. Veronica said, "It's a big difference because there's a lot more work to do than watching it on TV. There's a lot more." The campers are looking forward to visiting the New Hanover County crime lab later in the week.
