WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The Red Cross has closed shelters it set up at schools in New Hanover and Brunswick Counties yesterday, but it has opened new shelters today.

In Wilmington, anyone needing a place to go can go to the First Baptist Activity Center at 1939 Independence Blvd.

In Brunswick County, a shelter is open at First Baptist Church at 517 Village Road in Leland.

And with Pender County Schools closed tomorrow, Burgaw Middle School is open as a shelter. It's at 500 S. Wright Street in Burgaw.

Personal items to bring with you to the shelter should include any medicines needed by members of the family, feeding formulas and diapers for infants, a pillow and blanket for each member of the family, a change of clothing and books and simple toys for your children.

Public health requirements do not permit shelters to accept pets. Please contact your local animal control department for more information about shelter options for your pet.
