WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Ferris wheels, cotton candy and scholarships. Going to the Cape Fear Fair & Expo will help Cape Fear Community College students get a free ride to college. This new partnership means more money for education. Starting this year $1 from every advanced ticket sold for the fair will help fund a flexible scholarship to be used at CFCC. The fair brings the community together to celebrate the end of summer and new beginnings. The CFCC scholarship will mean new educational opportunities for students who may not have had the chance. "The fair has a three-point mandate. It's about agriculture, it's about industry, it's about education," fair manager Skip Watkins said. Watkins says the scholarship is a way to say thank you to the college and to invest in the future of our community. He also calls it a token of appreciation to the families of southeastern North Carolina who come out to the fair each year. Advanced tickets for the fair can be purchased now through October 27 for a discounted price of $13. The Cape Fear Fair & Expo opens October 28 at Wilmington International Airport.
