THE FOLLOWING IS A NEWS RELEASE FROM THE PANTANO CAMPAIGN:
WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) - On the heels of Ilario Pantano's news conference concerning coastal conservation, the Pantano Campaign learned that he has earned the endorsement of North Carolina's Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA). Jim Donofrio, RFA Executive Director, released the following statement:
“Ilario Pantano has demonstrated that he understands the coastal and fisheries issues that are so important to North Carolina’s 7th District. On behalf of the more than 2,100 North Carolina members and our entire national organization, I am proud to offer Ilario Pantano the endorsement of the RFA. Ilario understands that recreational fishing is about jobs. Recreational fishing generates over $82 billion in sales, over $24 billion in income and supports more than 534,000 good paying jobs. Indirectly the recreational fishing industry also supports jobs in hotels and restaurants as well as throughout the entire tourism industry.
The RFA is confident that as the next Congressman from North Carolina’s 7th District, Ilario Pantano, will fight to promote healthy fisheries and healthy fishing communities. It is clear to me that Ilario Pantano understands that coastal communities enjoy a rich history based in large part on their ties to recreational fishermen, the recreational fishing industry, and the men and women who make their living on the water. I am confident that Ilario Pantano will be a leading voice on issues that are critical to coastal and fishing communities in coastal North Carolina. It should be noted that there are some incumbents who've had the chance to work with us
in the past, but due to their lack of caring and/or involvement in fisheries issues when they could've helped us most, the RFA has decided to seek out new voices as representatives within those particular states."
The RFA is a national 501(c)(4) non-profit grassroots political action organization whose mission is to safeguard the rights of salt water anglers, protect marine, boat, and tackle industry jobs, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our nation's marine fisheries. Ilario Pantano is excited that his ideas and plans are well-received within this vital North Carolina community.
