It's that time of year -- the days are getting shorter, the temperatures are supposed to be getting lower, and the leaves are finally turning across the country. While fall foliage might not exactly attract too many tourists to Southeastern North Carolina, we don't need to travel far to find our fair share of fall colors right here in North Carolina.
In fact, it's peak season right now in the western half of the state. Areas along the Blue Ridge Parkway are among the most picturesque in the country at this time in the year - and this year's colors are right on schedule. I thought I'd pass along some photos we received into our newsroom here on this post - maybe you'll get the urge to take a little trip to Asheville or Boone this weekend?

Thanks to the NC Division of Tourism for those great shots. They sure have an easy job this time of year wouldn't you say? Lots to brag about.
As long as we're talking fall - that long promised cool down is on it's way and it will feel like autumn this weekend. Enjoy it.
