Wilmington Sharks hire new Manager

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- It's a new day for the Wilmington Sharks. The Sharks hired a new field manager for the 2011 summer league Coastal Plain League baseball season. The team made the announcement at a social event tonight at the Avalon Apartments in Wilmington. Chris Youngberg will be the new field manager.

Youngberg is a coach at the University of North Florida. Youngberg previously served as the pitching coach for the Morehead City Marlins and he's definitely ready to hit the ground running.

"I'm a perfectionist to be honest with you," Youngberg said. "I want to win the whole thing and any other expectation wouldn't be fair to the guys on the team or to the organization. I want to compete at the top because I want to make the Petit Cup playoffs and win the Petit Cup in general."

Youngberg says he plans to focus on building stronger team morale and making sure the sharks have a bigger presence in the community.

The Wilmington Sharks are celebrating 15 years in the Port City.
