I've never had any problem getting Representative Justice's attention. When the Revenue Department was in a shambles; and the State could not issue Tax Refunds on time, I emailed her weekly; and she responded to every email.
Thanks, in part to emails of that nature, inconsistencies in his responses, pressure up the food chain by Representative Justice, and additional screw ups, former Secretary of Revenue Lay was allowed to seek other career opportunities.
That's government in action.
And now, with Senator Soles' retirement, she is the Senior Legislator in southeastern North Carolina.
I hope she heeds the voters and gets focused early on the Budget Crisis our State faces. Hard budget cuts need to be made. I hope she has the stomach to do just that.
Time will tell. If she has an ounce of sense, she'll be at the Caucus on November 20 when a new House Speaker, a Republican, is chosen. And let's hope before then, she starts polling her constituents to confirm their feeling on where the State Give Away programs need to be cut.
And, if we're real lucky, Bev will fight those cuts and further strengthen her claim to a one term office.
