WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- FEMA has set up disaster recovery centers in the Cape Fear. The centers are intended to help victims of September's flooding. Now the Small Business Administration is stepping in to help, too.

One of the main things FEMA stresses to people who come into their recovery centers for help is that they need to file paperwork with the SBA, because that can save a lot of time and trouble down the road. Now the SBA is joining fema to make sure folks get the help they need.

The SBA assists business and homeowners who have been victims by providing low interest disaster loans. The SBA says it's convenient for folks to come in and talk to FEMA and then work with the SBA all in one place.

They say unfortunately people just don't tend to think about the SBA when it comes to rebuilding their property and their lives after a disaster.

"Even though our name is Small Business Administration we actually help homeowners, renters and business owners, so we want people to understand that SBA disaster assistance can be a valuable way to recover from a disaster," the SBA's Richard Daigle.

FEMA has plans to open up another disaster recovery center in New Hanover County. Right now there is no word on where that center will be built or when it may open.
