NC Symphony takes Holiday Pops music on the road

RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- The North Carolina Symphony is taking the Christmas spirit across the state in a series of concerts.

Conductors William Henry Curry and Jeffrey Pollock lead the orchestra in Holiday Pops beginning Tuesday at the Paramount Theatre in Goldsboro. The performances continue through Dec. 16, when the symphony ends its tour at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

The celebration includes a Raleigh performance on Nov. 26 that features The Broadway Tenors, as well as the family-focused concert Deck the Hall! Holiday Pops for Kids in Chapel Hill on Dec. 11.

The performances offer a mix of classic melodies and new favorites, from Bach's "Sheep May Safely Graze" to a composition by North Carolina native and symphony bass trombonist Terry Mizesko. There will also be tradiional holiday carols, including an audience sing-along called Christmas Memories.
