much further. The announcement yesterday confirmed the merging of additional departmets including Social Services. She also addressed the computer glitch issues noting an outside consultant would come in and determine how to fix a broken system. She also talked about eliminating some of the high paying Commissions such as the Utility Commission.
And she went further. There will be layoffs. It will be painful.
She did not however announce a morratorium on travel by the Governor or her entourage. Nor did she confirm how she will work with a republican controlled Legislature.
Should be an interesting legislative session.
One still has to question how the Legislature can shave 15% from the amount budgeted for this current fiscal year without touching Education. Maybe the first to be laid off will be that well paid Education Co-ordinator who was hired this past summer.
