Local shop owner watches as his business goes up in flames

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A business in Brunswick County went up in flames Monday afternoon.

J-2 Cabinetry is a family-owned cabinet shop off of Pisgah Road in Supply and it caught fire around 3 p.m.

Four surrounding fire stations responded to the call. The owner and his son were inside the shop when it went up in flames. Both of the men were able to get out. The family suspects the fire started in the paint room of the shop.

"The items that you have inside the building like the different lacquers, finishes and varnishes plus the wood and stuff you have from the cabinets does create a good fire load and makes it a little tougher to control sometimes," said Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner.

The fire department has not released the official cause of the fire.
