WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Independence Mall in Wilmington was hustling and bustiling on Christmas
Eve day. Shoppers say the last minute shopping puts them in the holiday spirit.
"We go out and you hear more music and there's a lot of people around," said Marita Aitkins. "It's
more festive. Everybody is decorated so it brings the spirit out a lot
While most people spent their time hitting the stores others waited
patiently to see Santa.
"We're not shopping," said Jeannie Marvel. "We are done with that. We are just waiting for Santa."
Santa brought along some last minute Christmas deals that helped put a
smile on customer's faces.
"I am actually doing better now than I would have if I came out a week ago," said Aitkins.
Althought the last minute deals tempted some shoppers to purchase a few
more items many agreed it was time to throw in the bag.
"I am done," said Phyliss Martin. "It was just a last minute come out and let
her see what Santa brings for the kids."
Independence Mall closed at 6 p.m., on Christmas Eve day.
