Habitat for Humanity welcomes new leader

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The new year means a new leader for Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. New executive director Bob Calhoun joined the local chapter this week.

Calhoun comes from Key West, FL, and those working closely with him hope he brings a fresh perspective to the organization. Calhoun has been involved with habitat for humanity all over the world. From his experience, he says he knows what he must do first here in Wilmington.

"I think my first priority is to listen," he said. "To listen not only to the people here at habitat on the staff and the board and the volunteers, but listen to all kinds of people in the community, and then take that and work with them to perhaps initiate some changes and set some directions that might be a little different or maybe continuing the same."

The organization is always looking for volunteers to help build homes for those in need. For more information visit
