New Hanover Health Dept. announces lubricant recall

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) -- The New Hanover County Health Department recently received notice from the Triad Group regarding an URGENT MEDICAL DEVICE RECALL. The product being recalled is STERILE LUBRICATING JELLY manufactured by the Triad Group. This recall affects anyone who received condom packets with individual McKesson brand Lubricating Jelly from the New Hanover County Health Department since 2007.

This recall has been initiated due to concerns expressed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding the potential for the product to be inadequately sterilized. However, because the product is not being used during a sterile procedure, we do not believe it poses any risk to our customers.

This recall extends to all lots of Sterile Lubricating Jelly remaining within their labeled expiration dating (three years), including all lot numbers beginning with the digits 7, 8, 9 or 0. If a customer of the New Hanover County Health Department has received this product, it is recommended to discontinue use and discard. If you have any questions regarding this recall, please call the New Hanover County Health Department at (910) 798-6500.
