to look at recent history. A few years back, cars were impounded for DWI incidents and sold after the conviction.
The city and county were overwhelmed by the number of vehicles.
The costs for private companies to impound and store vehicles exceeded the revenue generated from vehicle sales.
Good thought though.
Since so many incidents of uninsured drivers involved in auto accidents involve illegal immigrants, why not start there.
Take them into custody; put them on a barge; get an ocean going tugboat to transport the barge south; drop them off south of the Border. Save the cost of maintaining them in jail; educating them while they are in jail; and then having them released back into society as better educated illegal immigrants.
