Online retailer ships final Harry Potter book early

READ MORE: Online retailer ships final Harry Potter book early
A North Carolina couple received a magical surprise this week. A copy of J.K. Rowling's final Harry Potter book arrived in the mail. An online retailer mistakenly shipped about 3,000 copies of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" several days too early. Kevin and Charlene Jones are self-described Harry Potter fans, but not fanatics. Kevin said, "I haven't camped out for any of them yet." They pre-ordered a copy of J.K. Rowling's seventh and final book of the series from online retailer It doesn't officially go on sale until Saturday. Kevin said, "I was kind of, sort of expecting to get it the day after." Charlene said, "Suddenly on Tuesday it shows up in the mailbox! I haven't peeked ahead and looked at the ending." Kevin's situation may seem magical, but the company who publishes this elusive book is offering up a bit of reality to some distributors. Scholastic Inc. is taking "immediate legal action" against and another distributor. Apparently Kevin's not the only one who got the book early in the mail by mistake. The Jones think it's funny actually -- the hype and mania packed into the pages of a fictional book. Kevin said, "I didn't think it was that big a deal." But even they refuse to crack it open before Saturday. They've already been swept away in 3,440 pages of this tale and they want to soak up the last 784. Charlene said, "I personally want to read the book page by page and savor it. I don't want to skip ahead." has contacted the Jones family and apologized for the mishap. To make amends the company is giving them a $50 gift certificate and a free Harry Potter T-shirt.
