Quamain is not only an outstanding athlete, but an outstanding young man as well. He made a mistake and found himself the father of a child. He is trying to do the right thing and be a father to his child. He deserves recognition for his attempts to maintain a relationship with the mother of his child in an attempt to be present in his child's life. It is never a desired situation for a teen to become a parent. But it happened, and he is trying to make the best of it. I think those that stand around throwing stones at Quamain for his attempt at parenting need to reconsider their comments. I hope that Quamain will realize his potential in life and that he can be a better parent to his child if he will pursue his talents and abilities to improve his situation. I hope that he will realize that he will have to leave his current setting in order to move on to better things for himself and his child. And I hope he will realize that a birth mother is not always the best mother for a child. Her violent tendencies indicate that she is not suitable to be a parent to their child. Instead of throwing your insults at this young man, consider some encouraging words. I'm sure they will benefit him much more than mockery and cynicism.
