Maybe it's time for the Wilmington Police department to re-examine downtown laws and codes.
It's been reported, someone died, others were injured in late night violence in Downtown.
Having a concealed carry permit, and a legally purchased handgun, in order to enjoy the river-walk and walk my dog, I must go unarmed.
No thanks. Tourist may think Wilmington is fairly crime free, but the stats don't lie.
The few times I have gone to the river-walk, and been harassed by homeless people wanting cigarettes, and crackheads wanting money have convinced me to take my business and my dog elsewhere.
Wilmington should take a hard look at what kind of business, and customers they are trying to attract, and adjust laws and ordinances accordingly.
Lastly, Wilmington Downtown Inc executive director John Hinnant should stick to doing whatever it is that he does. What that is, is a mystery to me, as it goes from Ambassador's without guns, to criticizing the ALE.
Is it true Wilmington has no public drunkenness law?
Murder downtown
