READ MORE:

BAGHDAD (AP) -- At least 38 people have been killed in Iraq in a blood-soaked string of bombings and attacks.

The deadliest attack was in a Baghdad neighborhood that has been racked repeatedly by high-profile bombings. Within thirty minutes, three parked cars exploded in the Shiite area killing at least a dozen people.

One of those bombs targeted a passing police patrol, another erupted in a busy marketplace, the third hit a city square.

Another car packed with explosives blew up on the main road near an entry point to the city's Green Zone, killing at least four Iraqis.

Other violence claimed dozens of lives across the country.

A woman hiding an explosives belt under her Islamic gown blew herself up at a checkpoint in Anbar province, killing two police.

And there have been two attacks near the Iranian border. A convoy of trucks was attacked by gunmen near the Iranian border, killing five people. And a roadside bomb struck an Iraqi army patrol killing five troops.
