Organizers at NC State Fair want some changes

READ MORE:

RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- The North Carolina state fairgrounds are in for a makeover, and some familiar buildings could soon be history.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports that organizers will ask permission Tuesday from the Council of State to tear down a number of old structures, including the popular Jaycees Turkey Shoot.

Other structures that could go are two geodesic domes, the building that houses the North Carolina State University ice cream parlor and the rabbit barn that dates from the 1930s.

Organizers say some of the buildings are in bad shape, and others hurt traffic flow during the fair.

The groups who use the buildings may be given trailers or other temporary structures so the attractions won't be lost.
