WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- It'll be the same cup of joe but with a new owner. Port City Java announced Tuesday the local coffee company is changing hands.

Wilmington businessman Cecil Worsley is the new owner of the Wilmington-based coffee company and he says he's excited about making a fresh start for Port City Java.

"I wasn't eager to go out there and buy anything but I'm always looking at different things and concepts and ideas so one things led to another," said Worsley.

It's been a week since Worsley took over the company and Port City Java employees say the new ownership is looking very promising for everyone involved.

"I think it's a really great opportunity to move forward and put the past behind us and move forward with a clean slate," said Steve Schnitzler, who is the company's CEO.

When it comes to knowing coffee Worsley says he has some learning to do.

"I don't know it on the level the employees know it," he said. "I'm in a learning process there but as far as the business business is business. People are people. The key to any good business is having solid people."

When it comes to making profitable investments Worsley thinks he made a wise decision. Worsley currently owns an oil and convenience store business in the area. We asked Worsley if he intends to merge the two businesses together. He said he wasn't sure at this point in time.

Port City Java broke ground on a new store Tuesday morning. It is located on Racine Drive by The Home Depot.
