FAYETTEVILLE, NC (AP) -- A Fort Bragg soldier charged with killing a man in a parked car at a Fayetteville strip mall is back in North Carolina.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that 20-year-old Brandon Joseph Mims is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center after being extradited from Florida. It wasn't immediately clear early Thursday if Mims has a lawyer.
He was arrested in the Florida Keys earlier this month after police said he might head there to be near friends and family.
Mims is accused of shooting 23-year-old Michael Ray Staggs last month. Police haven't discussed a possible motive, but have said the men didn't know each other.
Mims faces charges of first-degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
