WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Business seems to be picking up in Hollywood East. The Wilmington Regional Film Commission today announced a second ABC Family production will begin filming in the Port City next month.
The movie "Teen Spirit" has opened a production office at EUE/Screen Gems. It joins the ABC Family show "A Cinderella Story," which is already shooting around town, along with the movie "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," the Comedy Central pilot "Playing with Guns" and the the CW's "One Tree Hill."
"Productions like 'Teen Spirit' are coming to Wilmington because of the strength of the local crew, the first-class production infrastructure, and a competitive North Carolina tax incentive," Wilmington Regional Film Commission, Inc. Director Johnny Griffin said in a statement. "2011 is looking to be the best year for the Wilmington film industry in a decade. We owe this success to our local crew base and the NC tax incentive that our legislators have fought so hard for."
The Film Commission said the production will ultimately employ about 100 local crewmembers.
"Teen Spirit" premiers this summer on ABC Family.
